In order to ensure the safe storage of the cylinder, the following measures should be taken: the protruding part of the piston rod should be wrapped with foam paper to prevent rusting, then covered with waterproof paper to prevent the loss of lubricant, and wrapped with cardboard to avoid mechanical damage. The storage place should be dry, ventilated, and protected from direct sunlight and rain to prevent water vapor condensation and corrosive gases.
For short-term storage (not more than three months) of the cylinder, although no additional treatment, but still need to meet the basic storage conditions. Cylinders stored for a long period of time, especially those that are exposed and not in action, require special attention to rust protection, and the protruding part of the piston rod should be coated with protective grease. In harsh environments, waterproof paper should also be added. At the same time, it is necessary to carry out regular inspection of the appearance of the piston rod surface in a timely manner to clean up foreign objects, and according to the storage location (indoor or outdoor) to set the frequency of full-stroke action.
When storing accessory cylinders, it is also necessary to pay attention to the environmental requirements, piston rod protection, and is strictly prohibited in the removal of the oil port plug or the extraction of residual oil state of storage. No additional measures are required for short-term storage, but cylinders stored for a long period of time (more than three months) need to be filled with 100% volume of hydraulic oil to ensure that the cleanliness of the medium meets the standards of NAS Class 8, the cylinders should be rotated periodically to prevent the seals from sticking, and the unprotected parts should be protected with a special anti-corrosion oil.
If the hydraulic cylinder has been stored for more than one year, or the actual storage conditions cannot meet the requirements, it is necessary to carry out availability verification before being put into use, including pressurization test to check for leakage and extend and retract movement test.
