On the morning of May 11, the world's longest highway underwater shield tunnel - Hai Tai Yangtze River Tunnel project ushered in key progress. With the order of the site commander, the largest diameter shield machine “Cangyuan” weighing 481.5 tons of cutter plate, by ZOOMLION 1600-ton ZCC18000 crawler cranes were successfully lifted down the shaft, marking a key step in the construction of the project again.
Hai Tai Yangtze River Tunnel is located at the mouth of Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province, with a total length of about 11.2 kilometers, which is the longest highway underwater shield tunnel in the world. “Cangyuan is responsible for the left tunnel boring task, setting a new record for domestic large diameter shield machine. Its core component - the cutter plate, composed of a center block and six edge sub-blocks, with a total weight of about 481.5 tons, equivalent to 100 African elephants, and an excavation diameter of 16.66 meters, equivalent to the height of a five-story building. Such a large volume of components need to be assembled and lowered in the narrow starting shaft, the construction difficulty and safety challenges are extremely high.
At 9:58 a.m. on the same day, the ZCC18000 crawler crane started the lifting operation, and the “Cangyuan” cutter was slowly raised and adjusted to a vertical angle, and then accurately lifted and lowered to the bottom of the 30-meter-deep well. Under the close cooperation of the on-site team, the cutter was smoothly positioned and embedded in the shield mainframe, and the whole process took about 3 hours. The successful completion of this lifting operation marks the basic completion of the assembly of the key components of the shield mainframe, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent digging.
It is worth mentioning that the cutter plate of the shield machine “Jianghai” used in the right line of the project was also lifted by ZCC18000 crawler crane. The equipment has strong performance and excellent control ability, not only to break the limitations of the traditional crawler crane method, but also to achieve a breakthrough in the sea and land lifting operations, won the “sea and land lifting tool” reputation.
Hai Tai Yangtze River Tunnel is expected to be basically completed in 2028, after the completion of the north-south transportation efficiency will be significantly improved, to promote the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the Yangtze River Economic Belt is of far-reaching significance to the high-quality development.
