Electric forklift is the most commonly used equipment in the logistics industry. Electric forklift can help operators handle the movement and stacking of various goods more easily. We need to know how to extend the service life of forklift batteries through daily maintenance, which will bring us direct benefits.
Electric forklift battery maintenance tips:
1. The battery shall be charged immediately after it is discharged. Please note do not exceed 24 hours.
2. Perform a routine inspection once a week. If the electrolyte level drops during normal use of the battery, only distilled water is allowed to be added to the fully-charged battery. Distilled water cannot be added when the battery is not fully charged. Please note only distilled water or pure water are allowed. Do not add sulfuric acid, tap water or other substances.
3. Clean the surface of the battery with a wet cloth to prevent the self-discharge of the battery due to dust or electrolyte on the battery cover. Feather duster and dry chemical fiber fabric are not allowed.
4. Equalize the battery based on the recommended frequency.
5. Low-speed driving of electric forklift helps to extend the battery life.

How to charge a forklift battery?
1. Battery charging area
· Clean, ventilated and away from flammable and explosive materials.
· Personal protective equipment such as rubber gloves, safety goggles, and aprons are available.
· Equipped with multimeter, hydrometer, thermometer and other inspection equipment.
· Equipped with water source device and fire extinguishing device.
· Avoid direct sunlight and rain. Maintain room temperature.
· It must be charged with a DC power supply. The positive (+) pole of the power supply is connected to the positive (+) pole of the battery, and the negative (-) pole of the power supply is connected to the negative (-) pole of the battery. It cannot be connected incorrectly to avoid damage.
2. Forklift battery charging
· The battery shall be charged immediately after it is discharged. Please note do not exceed 24 hours.
· During the charging process, when the battery liquid temperature exceeds 50°C, the charging current should be reduced or the charging should be temporarily stopped to prevent the increase of the liquid temperature from having a big impact on the battery performance.
· Smoking, open fire and static sparks are strictly prohibited in the battery charging place to avoid explosion of the small amount of hydrogen that escapes during battery charging.
