Recently, at the Zhuhai Deepwater Equipment
Manufacturing Base, ZOOMLION’s ultra-large crawler crane, the ZCC89000,
successfully lifted and positioned an offshore platform living quarters module
weighing 1,244 metric tons in one piece. The successful completion of this
operation supports the on-schedule progress of onshore construction for Asia’s
largest offshore crude oil processing platform.
The new platform for the Huizhou 25-4
project is a three-story, eight-leg crude oil processing platform. Its topside
structure stands approximately 85 meters tall, with a projected area equivalent
to nearly 13 standard basketball courts, and is designed to support a floating
load of approximately 29,000 metric tons. Upon completion, the platform will
support the development of the 100-million-metric-ton-class Huizhou 19-6
oilfield.
The living quarters module lifted in this
operation integrates multiple functions, including residential and support
facilities, and features a complex structure and massive scale. During the
hoisting process, the equipment must maintain a stable posture while ensuring
the safety and quality of all construction phases.
To improve construction efficiency, the
project adopted a solution involving full prefabrication and integration,
followed by a single-crane, one-time hoisting of the entire module, replacing
the traditional methods of segmented hoisting and high-altitude assembly. This
approach reduces the number of high-altitude work phases but places higher demands
on the lifting equipment’s load-bearing capacity, stability, and precision
control capabilities.
The ZOOMLION ZCC89000 crawler crane
features a high lifting capacity, strong resistance to lateral loads, and
precise micro-maneuvering capabilities. Even when operating with a long main
boom, the equipment maintains excellent operational stability, meeting the
demands of lifting large offshore modules as a single unit.
During this construction project, the
project team fully leveraged the equipment’s lifting performance and
operational advantages to sequentially complete key processes—including module
hoisting, attitude adjustment, precise alignment, and smooth
positioning—ultimately accomplishing the entire lift in a single operation.
The integrated lifting solution facilitated
the onshore prefabrication and integration of the residential building module
across multiple disciplines and processes, reduced the need for work at
heights, improved construction efficiency and operational safety, and provided
practical experience for the integrated construction of large offshore modules.
Previously, ZOOMLION’s crawler cranes also
served as primary lifting equipment during the hoisting of a three-story
electrical room module with a total weight of 2,174 metric tons. This module
was one of the largest core structural modules built since the Zhuhai Deepwater
Equipment Manufacturing Base began operations, and its construction presented
significant challenges.
From the hoisting of the 2,174-metric-ton
electrical room module to the in-one-piece positioning of the 1,244-metric-ton
living quarters module, ZOOMLION’s crawler cranes have consistently
participated in the construction of large-scale offshore engineering equipment,
providing lifting equipment support for complex offshore engineering projects.
In the future, ZOOMLION will continue to deepen its expertise in the field of engineering lifting equipment, advance the research, development, and application of ultra-high-tonnage lifting technology, provide support for the construction of offshore engineering equipment and the development of marine energy, and contribute to the high-quality development of the offshore equipment industry.
